Educated by Tara Westover

“My life was narrated for me by others. Their voices were forceful, emphatic, absolute. It had never occurred to me that my voice might be as strong as theirs.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

40060637If you read any memoir, let it be this one. Westover’s story is very unique and yet it shines a light on some many familiar themes especially issues around abusive families.

One of the main things this book taught me was the importance of teaching children to question everything around them, find their own voice, and a good education plays a crucial role in developing this.

The memoir serves as a reminder that although our cultures and lifestyles can be hugely different across the globe, we are all people and we are all flawed in similar ways.

I must confess though that my 5-star rating will definitely have been influenced by my ability to relate to some of Westover’s family issues on a personal level. But even so, this book is incredibly well written and eye-opening. A must-read for everyone.
