Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata

I was very intrigued about this book and had seen it floating around on Instagram for a while before it found itself on my TBR shelf and then one day after I’d finished my last book I decided to pick it up because it was only a short novella (approx. 160 pages) and ended up swallowing it whole in one sitting!

I have to say that I was really rooting for Keiko from the start. This book is very special and unique, I can’t say I’ve read anything quite like it.

I don’t think that it’s for everyone, it’s definitely for fans of literary fiction that’s the main purpose is to challenge pre-conceptions and the world around us. Even so, I did genuinely enjoy the story.

I would definitely read more from Murata in the future and I just hope she gives me another character like Keiko to will on and find happiness.
